This marks the 5th annual Subfest weekend in the city of Manitowoc. Cathy Green, Executive Director of the Wisconsin Maritime Museum, tells SeehaferNews.com it’s their big outreach of the year. ”Subfest is a celebration of the veterans of our ship building heritage here in Manitowoc and in Wisconsin,” Cathy explained. “We have a number of things going on all weekend long.”
Today, at the Manitowoc downtown riverfront, Green said they’ll have a reception for submarine veterans, along with community events that people are used to, such as a big entertainment tent, food vendors, and refreshments for people of all ages.
Cathy also says as part of the weekend they’ll have reduced admission prices to the museum this afternoon and tomorrow. Saturday is a huge day beginning with Yoga on the roof deck and a big Fireworks show tomorrow night. Sunday morning, there’s a memorial to lost American submarines with a tolling-of-the-boats taking place aboard the USS Cobia, plus special speakers during the day from across the country focusing on World War II and submarine warfare.
