The Boston Red Sox released pitcher Tyler Thornburg Wednesday after three injury-filled seasons. Even though third baseman Travis Shaw is in the minors due to a season-long slump, it’s still clear that the Milwaukee Brewers won that four-for-one trade three years ago. Shaw is coming off two straight seasons of 30 home runs and Mauricio Dubon is a promising infield prospect. The other two players in the deal were Josh Pennington and Yeison Cocoa. Pennington is out of baseball and Cocoa is in Single-A playing for the Wisconsin Timber Rattlers.
