The Manitowoc Public School District is looking forward to potentially getting a raise in funds from the State. MPSD Superintendent Mark Holzman was on WOMT’S Be My Guest program earlier this week and said that thanks to the new State Budget, more funds are being given to schools. He went on to say that they are waiting for “the State to give us an official report on how those resources are going to be allocated.”
A previous report indicated that Manitowoc would be receiving $34,448,144, which is a 3.8% increase from last year. This increase is something the MPSD expected, and as Holzman explains, would affect local taxpayers in a positive way. “The slight increase in state aid likely means that there will be a reciprocal reduction, potentially, in the amount of money that our local taxpayers would have to pay.”
Holzman went on to say that Manitowoc has the lowest tax levy in the County and that they plan on keeping it that way.
