The Farm Service Agency is reminding dairy producers that the window to sign up for their Dairy Margin Coverage Program is open. FSA Administrator Richard Fordyce stated in a release that the coverage sign up began back on June 17th. He explained that the program “offers protection to dairy producers when the difference between the all-milk price and the average feed cost falls below a certain dollar amount, selected by the producer.”
New this year is the Decision Tool on the FSA website. Fordyce stated that “The decision tool is designed to help producers determine the level of coverage that will provide the strongest safety net under a variety of conditions.”
