The former sober living facility worker that plead guilty to sexual assault will be spending six years in prison for his actions. Two Rivers native, 27 year old Andrew David Schmaling was working at a sober living facility in Sheboygan back in February, when he offered to give a resident a ride to work. Schmaling then pulled the vehicle over, and pressured the woman into having sex with him. He told her that if she did not comply, he would have her kicked out of the facility, and her child would be taken away. He also told her that no one would believe her story if she told anyone because she was just a “junkie” and he was an active recruit at the LTC law enforcement academy. During his sentencing hearing on Tuesday, Judge Angela Sutkiewicz said that Schmaling abused his authority, and “totally disregarded the law,” while calling the victim a “strong individual”.
