Tomorrow marks the end of a decades-long tradition at Daytona International Speedway. Saturday’s Coke Zero Sugar 400 will likely be the last time the NASCAR race is held at the track on July 4th weekend. Starting next year, the race will take place in August. The race was first held July 4th weekend in 1959, and defending champ Erik Jones says he’s sad to see the tradition end.
In some positive racing news, Cambridge native Matt Kenseth will be behind the wheel in a race car competition next week for the first time in seven months. The former NASCAR champion will race in the Slinger Nationals Tuesday. Kenseth has won the Nationals seven times in his storied career. He was testing there earlier this week. During his 21-year career, he won NASCAR Cup Series races 39 times.
