Wisconsin’s construction unemployment rate set an all-time record low for any month on record, according to an analysis of U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics (BLS) data released by Associated Builders and Contractors (ABC). The estimated not seasonally adjusted construction unemployment rate in Wisconsin dropped to 1.3%, topping the previous record of 1.7% for May 2017. The 1.3% rate is seventh best among the states. It’s also a drop of 0.9% from May 2018 and 2% from April 2019. It is also 1.4% lower than the not seasonally adjusted overall state unemployment rate of 2.7% for the month of May. Because these industry-specific rates are not seasonally adjusted, national and state-level unemployment rates are best evaluated on a year-over-year basis.
