Congressman Glenn Grothman stated recently that he believes the crisis at our southern border with Mexico “is the biggest danger of our lifetime.” The 6th district Republican from Greenbush tells SeehaferNews.com, as the process began on 12 separate budget bills, Democrats in Washington were not willing to take up an appropriation on Homeland Security. “And of course that’s the one we need more than anything else,” Grothman said. “They had laid out a framework for what they want to do with these bills. Of the 12 areas of government, the one they want the smallest increase in is, not surprising, Homeland Security.”
Grothman was also one of 20 lawmakers to co-sponsor an amendment to stop a proposed $4,500 pay increase for members of Congress. Grothman criticized the Democratic party saying, “It’s kind of hard to believe that some of the Democrats had planned to increase our salary at this time…The fact that they wanted a raise is a little bit absurd.”
Grothman reiterated his thoughts saying that the area federal representative says Homeland Security is the only part of the budget that should get an increase.
