Semi caught fire last night in Green Bay. The Green Bay Police and Metro Fire Departments were both called to the 1600 block of Cofrin Drive to attend to the issue. The semi was carrying compressed natural gas, so tensions were high. The fire did cause several small explosions, which are believed to be from the relief valves on the tanks, or from the tires. The surrounding neighborhood was evacuated as the fire was battled, and Cofrin Drive from Radisson to Elizabeth Streets, which has since been reopened. As of last word the fire has been contained, but crews remain on the scene to monitor and investigate. It is unclear at this time was started the fire, but more information is expected to be released sometime today.
