The Milwaukee Department of Public Works hasn’t even ordered the fare collection equipment for its streetcar called The Hop. That means rides will still be free longer than expected. Public Works wants the rides to stay free all next year, but the Common Council will make that decision. The Hop has an annual operating cost of about four-point-three-million dollars. At least two aldermen, Cavalier Johnson, and Robert Bauman, weren’t happy that the city may not start charging in November, as planned.
