Several local news outlets picked up the story, and portrayed it as fact, when the story being referenced dated back to 2007. We received word directly from Mercury Marine, and they put it very bluntly, “Mercury Marine DID NOT lay-off 100 people.” Just another example of why you shouldn’t always believe everything you read on the internet, and should do a little extra research on your own to verify stories.
