It has been a month and a half since a sign was spotted on the door of Hartman’s Bakery in Manitowoc stating that they would be closing their doors at the end of this month. That is no longer the case, as Austin and Luisa Rehrauer have purchased the store, located at 901 North 11th Street. Steve and Joni Hartman decided to retire, and couldn’t find anyone to purchase their bakery, causing them to decide to simply close the Manitowoc staple. Austin, a Two Rivers native, was working as a substitute teacher when he saw the bakery was for sale and decided to just go for it. He has said that he will not be removing anything from their menu, but did say he may add some things as time goes on.
