We have all been sitting at a stoplight when someone pulls up blasting their music so loud you can’t hear yourself think. The Green Bay Police Department is reminding motorists with loud speakers in their car that what they are doing is technically illegal. The GBPD cited the state statute on the issue in a Facebook post. The exact wording is “no person may use a radio or other sound amplification device emitting sound from that vehicle that is audible from a distance of 75 feet or more, unless it is being used to request assistance or warn against an unsafe condition.” Violation of this ordinance is actually quite hefty, at $111.40, and also applies for music played in your home. Keep that in mind next time you want to crank up your radio.
