Brown County’s Drug Treatment Court is celebrating 10 years of providing an effective program for drug dependent users. The program has enhanced public safety, reduced crime, held offenders accountable, reduced costs, and ultimately transformed individuals into positive, contributing members of our community. Mark Vanden Hoogen, Brown County Criminal Justice Services Manager explained that “Drug courts not only assist those offenders dealing with a drug and/or alcohol dependency, but it provides a valuable opportunity for collaboration among key stakeholders both in the criminal justice world and the treatment world.” 145 participants have been involved with the program over the years, which has helped see a 93% decrease in Law Enforcement contacts, and an 89% decrease in Jail Placements for participants.
