Manitowoc police believe they know the identity of a deceased male found last Thursday in the 200-block of Maritime Drive. The MPD has been following up on leads in their attempts to identify the victim since that time. This morning, Detective Sergeant Mike Stone said police officers and detectives followed up on a report of a missing male subject yesterday & learned the physical description ‘matched-that’ of the unidentified man. The keys found on the body opened the door & another item at the missing person’s city residence. Stone said clothing sizes the deceased was wearing when found, also matched clothing in the house. The detective sergeant said while they ‘believe’ the deceased is the missing person reported Tuesday, police will continue to work with the State Crime Laboratory in conducting DNA, fingerprint & dental record examinations to verify it was the same man. Stone says at this point of the investigation, no signs of foul play have been found. The final autopsy results aren’t complete yet, pending the toxicology report.
