A 35-year-old Manitowoc man was taken into police custody over the weekend after his mother told police that he had attempted to sexually assault her late last week. Officers went to the woman’s home in the 2000 block of Johnston Drive to speak with her about the incident, which she claimed took place last Thursday. The woman told police that she had locked herself in the restroom, and her son had attempted to open the door using a knife. She told police that the incident had her fearing for her safety. The officers informed her that there was not sufficient evidence to bring him in on sexual assault charges, but were able to perform a probable cause arrest for Disorderly Conduct with a domestic violence order.
