Manitowoc’s Lincoln Park Zoo is open daily this summer from 7 am to 7 pm. Everyone is always welcome to visit, despite the interruptions & detours involving the Waldo Boulevard reconstruction.
Vicky Rathsack, Curator-Education & Special Events, spoke to Seehafer News about their Zoo Camps. “We will be having one about diets, so the kids will learn about how the animals get fed. We learn how farm animals get fed and why they are important to us. We have an enrichment camp, where we make toys for the animals and give it to them the next day. Also, we have a brand new one this year called classification camp, so kids can come in and actually learn about the different kinds of animals and why they are split up into the different groups that they are.”
Rathsack also commented on planned changes or upgrades at the zoo.
“The Zoological Society is investing in helping us renovate our bird of prey exhibit, so where the eagle, hawk, owl and turkey vulture live, that area will be getting a facelift. All the landscaping will be redone, so you might be missing those animals for a short period of time while they work on that, but I think that’s what they’re gonna be planning to do this summer.”
