U-S Senator Ron Johnson has introduced a bill which would return whole milk and two-percent milk to school lunchrooms. The Wisconsin Republican announced the “Milk in Lunches for Kids Act” earlier this week. Right now, public schools are only allowed to serve flavored and unflavored skim and one-percent milk. That has led to a precipitous drop in milk consumption. Johnson says his MILK Act also requires the Ag Secretary to revise regulations excluding milk fat from the cap on saturated fat in school lunches.
