A 41 year old Manitowoc man was taken into custody by police last night after barricading the front-door of a southside residence causing an approximately 30 minute standoff. Captain Jeremy Kronforst said this morning that the incident began shortly after 7:30 pm when officers were called to the 1400 block of South 14th Street. The suspect was outside a residence from which he was barred, due to prior bail restrictions and was seen yelling at a person at that location. When he noticed police arrive at the scene, he entered another residence where he’s been ordered to have no contact. Officers then attempted to get him to come out of the house for Disorderly Conduct & 4 counts of misdemeanor Bail Jumping. Captain Kronforst said the suspect then barricaded himself inside the residence & wouldn’t leave, so a search warrant was obtained, and, because police knew the man had numerous weapons in the house, the County S.O.S. team was called to assist officers. Following efforts to reach the suspect by loud-speaker & phone-contact, entry was made and the 41 year old was arrested with the assistance of a Manitowoc Police K-9. The suspect, who sustained minor injuries, was transported to the County Jail on charges of Disorderly Conduct and Bail Jumping. He was also cited for Possession of Drug Paraphenalia.
