
The Manitowoc American Legion Baseball season began yesterday at Municipal Field. Coach Kevin Stangel’s team started things off with a pair of wins. Legion Post 88 defeated Marshfield 6-1 in the opener behind a complete game from Noah Jacquart of Two Rivers. Offensively, Jacob DeBruin & Aiden Buck of Lincoln along with Hilbert’s Adam Dietrich had 2-hits apiece with Diedrich driving in a pair of runs. Then in Game 2: Manitowoc held off De Pere 6-4. Winning pitcher Adam Diedrich went the 7-inning distance on a 4 hitter with 9 strikeouts. Leading the offense was Jacob DeBruin who had a double and 2 RBI, while Brillion’s Robert Shimek was 1-2 with 2 runs knocked-in. The Legion varsity has another game tomorrow ‘at’ Sheboygan.
