A new Dollar General Store is going to be built in the city of Two Rivers. That announcement came from City Manager Greg Buckley earlier this week, who told SeehaferNews.com that the company purchased about one acre of land across from Shoreline Credit Union. The site plan was approved by the Two Rivers Planning Commission last month, and Buckley said “They plan to be under construction this year.” He termed it part of a “building spree by Dollar General all over the country, including 78 stores in a 3 state upper Midwest region.
The City Manager also provided an update on the loan default case of Paragon Partners, LLC. Investors defaulted on a $1-million dollar loan from the summer of 2014 when they expressed hopes of establishing a bottling plant in Two Rivers. Buckley explains the city and Manitowoc County are the first mortgage-holders and pursued a foreclosure & personal judgment against Paragon Partners and were awarded those judgments in Manitowoc County Circuit Court last October. A sheriff’s sale was originally set for mid-May but has been rescheduled for June 11th, and Buckley said he would not be surprised to see it moved back again.
The City Manager added, “We’re pursuing it and intend to recoup everything we can from a foreclosure sale. He said, “We’re doing our best to get the loan dollars back to assist other small business startups or businesses that want to expand.”
