Bystanders Alert Madison Police Officer To Attack On Woman

A Madison police officer was in the right place at the right time and a guy accused of punching a woman in the face was arrested.  The officer was driving in the downtown area early Thursday when bystanders rushed up to his car and told him a woman had been attacked.  When accused attacker Damari P. Richardson saw the officer, he took off running but was quickly caught.  The 18-year-old victim says she believes Richardson would have kept beating her if the officer hadn’t arrived when he did.  She says he started hitting her when she refused his request for money.
