The Two Rivers City Council held their monthly meeting on Monday and went through a lot of different topics. City Manager Greg Buckley told SeehaferNews.com that the planned hotel development down by the harbor is coming closer and closer to fruition. “We’ve been talking about that for a while,” Buckley admitted. “But we did have a meeting between our finance committee and a representative from Two Rivers Hotel Group last Thursday, and we are down to just a few issues that we need to finalize.” The council also discussed the possibility of TIF assistance for the $6.3 million project. The council also approved 1 million 785 thousand dollars in new borrowing for capital projects.
Some lighter topics were discussed as well, including an update from a citizen committee responsible for the holiday decoration of the Washington Street corridor. That stretch of Downtown Two Rivers has remained relatively un-decorated ever since the street was redone around 13 years ago. The new light poles that were installed would not allow for the prior decorations to be hung. The committee has decided on some particular garland, lights, and wreaths to help get the cool City in the holiday spirit.
