Some exciting new additions continue to happen in downtown Manitowoc. Mayor Justin Nickels tells Seehafer News that “Strand Adventures”, will mark its official grand opening this Thursday afternoon with a ribbon-cutting ceremony. “There’s a Crossfit gym in there, but there is also rock climbing, laser tag, arcade games, just tons of stuff for the whole family. Actually, it’s a really cool story because that was a building that was on our blight program.” Nickels says the 4-investors involved in the renovation have taken an ‘old’ building & turned it into something spectacular.
Just south of Strand Adventures, “Pizza Garden, that’ll be opening sometime this summer. We’re actually working with them to do the exterior of their building to bring it back to the old school look. That entire block is going to be night and day difference from what it was last year, which is a great thing to see.”
Other changes in the downtown that have happened or are happening include: L-T-C moving its Satellite campus to the near northeast-side, the new waterfront Wine Bar, Holla Restaurant, The Wharf live music venue and new boat docks installed by the Wisconsin Maritime Museum between the submarine and the 8th Street bridge. Mayor Nickels said he remarked to someone the other day “it looks like we’re in a big city.”
