
Eric Thames doubled and homered, driving in three of the runs as Milwaukee beat the Pirates Sunday 4-2. Zach Davies was pulled after eight solid innings when he gave up a double to open the ninth. Davies improved his record to 6-0 and Corbin Burnes got a pair of outs to earn his first save. The Brewers take Monday off, then send Chase Anderson against the Marlins on Tuesday.
In other MLB news, the Brewers have placed Jhoulys Chacin on the injured list and called up Jimmy Nelson to start Wednesday’s game against Miami. Also, the first-year player draft begins today. The Brewers have the 28th overall pick in the first round. The draft is 40 rounds over three days. The Orioles have the first pick, followed by the Royals, White Sox, Marlins and Tigers.
