Recently graduated Roncalli High School senior, Ian Behringer has been part of a State championship team in basketball. If he has-his-way, Ian will close out his prep athletic career as a member of a state-winning golf squad.
Behringer and his 4-Jets teammates were getting some work-in on Thursday at the Golf Course at Branch River in preparation for next week’s WIAA State Meet at University Ridge in Verona. The future UW-Green Bay Phoenix golfer tells WOMT Sports.
Coach John Haug on how the season has played out for his Jets.
Behringer agrees..there’s no doubt they’re going after the big prize.
Haug points-out that 3-of-his-5 golfers also played on the Jets state basketball tournament team.
Ian says he and his teammates want to complete ‘some unfinished business.’
Coach Haug…on the importance of the ‘mental frame of mind.’
Haug is in his ‘33rd’ year as golf coach…with ‘8’ state appearances, including 1-championship in 2009. The Jets golf team plans on leaving for Madison Sunday morning and they’ll play a ‘practice’ round on the University Ridge course…before the first round of the 36-hole tournament begins on Monday. Roncalli has a 1:00 o’clock tee-time for the opening round.
