The Clark County Coroner’s Office has determined that the death of an Appleton man in a Las Vegas jail was a homicide. Nicholas Farah died after being put into a restraint chair by officers back on March 31st. The probable cause of death was ruled to be asphyxia, better known as choking, which occurred during the restraining process. Methamphetamine was also determined to have been in his system, which may have contributed as well. Farah was taken into police custody after management at a hotel informed police that he was acting strangely, and had called multiple cabs, and would refuse service when they arrived.  Police are conducting internal criminal and administrative investigations into Farah’s death and the four officers involved are on administrative leave.
