Unemployment rates in both Manitowoc and Manitowoc County dropped drastically in the month of April. Numbers released by the State Department of Workforce Development show the city’s jobless rate is two-point-nine percent. That’s down from three-and-a-half percent in March and an eight-tenths of a percent decline from April’s 2018 rate of three-point-seven percent, which represents the largest over-the-year decline among Wisconsin’s largest cities. The County’s unemployment rate for April is two-point-six percent-down from three point four percent in March and last April ‘s number of three-point two percent. Preliminary April 2019 unemployment rates declined or remain unchanged in 31 of the state’s 33 largest cities and 68 of Wisconsin’s 72 counties.
