Lakeshore area high school track & field athletes have punched their ticket to La Crosse and the WIAA State Track & Field championships next weekend. In division 1: the Manitowoc Lincoln girls qualified 5 athletes for state by virtue of top 3 finishes last night at the Hartford Union Sectional. Ships senior Emily Dawidowich led the way winning both the 100 & 200 meter dash, shattering her own school records in the process. Emily D ran the 100 in 11.8 seconds & the 200 in 24.86. She also was part of Lincoln’s 4-by-100 Relay that placed 3rd consisting of Jenna Miller, Mia Khalil and Brooke Parrish. Lauren Borchardt finished 3rd in the 100-meter hurdles. The Ships were 6th in the team standings with 49-points, while the boys team came in 12th in their division.
In the Division 3 Sectional yesterday at Princeton Manitowoc Lutheran has qualified two individuals and 2 Relays for the State meet. Senior Emily Behnke won the Discus, and Brooklyn Luebke qualifies in the 400 meter run. Also advancing to La Crosse for the Lancer girls are the 4×200 relay of Katelyn & Kallie Fels, Noelle Poehlmann & Mady Hurkmans..as well as the 4×400 tandem of Katelyn Fels, Luebke, Poehlmann & Hurkmans.
