Roncalli High School Boys Tennis Players Jacob Linzmeier-Alec Schermetzler-and Steffen Lipski have qualified for next week’s WIAA State Boys Tennis Tournament in Madison. At a Division Two Sectional meet held at the Sports Core in Kohler, Linzmeier-representing the Jets at Number One Singles-defeated Max Van Rossum Of St. Mary Catholic 6-2 6-1. He then knocked off George Palof of Kohler in three sets Winning 10-8 in the final set. Linzmeier lost a tough three-set match to Johnny Horak in the final, falling 11-9 in the third set. At number one doubles Lipski and Schermetzler Defeated Daniel Bomier and George Cole of Xavier 7-5 6-3. Then lost in straight sets To William and Alan Schneider of Notre Dame, before rallying to defeat Conner Young And Logan Oestrich of Rhinelander 6-3 6-3 to earn their trip to state. At Number Two Singles Nick Wellnetz defeated Alex Unger of Kohler 6-2 6-3, before Falling to Augustine Lamaire-Maringer of Xavier in straight sets. Jets Coach Amanda Kudick tells us that they are hopeful Wellnetz will make it to state as a special qualifier.
