There was a no-hitter thrown by a Valders High School pitcher in regular season boys baseball last evening. Deisel Hammel tossed the gem…in the Vikings 12-0 5 inning rout of host Manitowoc Lutheran. Hammel, who struck out 5 & walked 1-batter helped his own cause with 3-hits and 3-RBI. Teammate Luke Wendling added 3 hits, including a 2 run Homer, and 4 RBI as Valders ends the regular season with a mark of 17-4.
Meanwhile, Green Bay Southwest snapped Manitowoc Lincoln’s 6 game winning streak last night. The Ships lost to the host Trojans 7-2 with Lincoln starter Aiden Buck taking the loss. He struck out 7 and walked only 1. Jacob DeBruin, Noah Brotski, Justin Steinbecker, Buck, and Jackson Schmitz had base hits for Manitowoc. Coach Bruce Steinbecker’s team still has 2 regular season games remaining: tomorrow at 5 against Slinger on Senior Night, and then @ Appleton West Friday.
