Though it may not seem like it today, warmer weather is coming, which means people with swimming pools are getting itchy to dive on in. As part of Healthy and Safe Swimming Week, the Wisconsin Department of Agriculture, Trade and Consumer Protection (DATCP) is reminding all pool owners, and individuals using pools to do their part to prevent exposure to pool chemicals. Public health data from 2008-2016 shows Wisconsin had 464 reports of individuals who were injured or became ill at a public pool. Of those individuals, over half became ill due to chemicals in a public pool. A good general rule of thumb is to always follow the instructions on the product labels, and wear proper safety equipment when handling it. As with all chemicals, never mix different chemicals with each other. More information can be found at the CDC Website, which you can reach by Clicking Here.
