A 49-year-old Manitowoc man who died after a nearly nine-hour standoff on the city’s south side Saturday morning has been identified as Antonio Lujan. Lujan was found dead late Saturday morning in a ground floor bedroom of a home on South 25th Street.
Manitowoc County Coroner Curtis Green says the forensic pathologist who conducted the autopsy at the Milwaukee County Medical Examiner’s Office didn’t find any significant trauma to Lujan’s body and the cause of death will be pending further studies including toxicology.
Police say that about 11:40 Friday night a woman reported threatening behavior from her ex-boyfriend who was violating a restraining order. While at the Police Department she received a call stating he may have thrown some sort of flammable/explosive device in front of her residence on Raton Court. Officers checked the ex-boyfriend’s residence at 1030 S. 25th St. and witnessed him run from a vehicle into the residence where he barricaded himself inside. A perimeter was set up around the area of the 1000 block of South 25th Street. Numerous attempts were made to draw Lujan out of the home to no avail. After the entryways were made safe, a sweep of the residence was conducted and the body was discovered.
Full autopsy results will take between 45 and 60 days.
