Brandon Woodruff blanked the Phillies on one hit over six innings while helping his Milwaukee Brewers break a three-game losing streak. Milwaukee got homers from Yasmani Grandal and Ryan Braun, accounting for five of the runs in a 6-1 victory. Woodruff claimed his sixth victory and kept the Brewers two-and-a-half games behind the Cubs in the N-L Central Division race. Philadelphia and Milwaukee meet in the third game of the four-game series tonight (Wednesday) with Gio Gonzalez on the mound for manager Craig Counsell.
If he performs anything like he did in his first game in the majors, Milwaukee Brewers top prospect Keston Hiura will be around for more than a few years. Hiura went two-for-three with a walk in last night’s game while starting and playing second base. He was the ninth overall pick in the 2017 M-L-B Draft. Hiura had 11 homers in 37 games at Triple-A San Antonio before being promoted.
