Badgers slugging first baseman Kayla Konwent has been named the Big Ten softball player of the year. Konwent is the first U-W player to win an individual conference award in the 35 years they have been handed out. After missing almost all of the last two seasons with injuries, the junior led the conference in batting average at .479, slugging percentage at .918, on-base percentage at .600 and total bases with 134. She was also top-five in the conference in five other categories. Konwent was joined on the first-team All-Big Ten by Taylor Johnson. The Badgers play Iowa in the first round of the conference tournament this (Thursday) morning at 11:00 A-M in Bloomington, Indiana.
