Fatal Crash in Manitowoc County

A 27-year old Manitowoc County man was killed Friday night as the result of a one-vehicle crash in the Town of Schleswig.  Sheriff Dan Hartwig says Kevin Wirth from the Town of Meeme, died about 8 pm when his pickup truck failed to negotiate a curve on Point Creek Road, entered the ditch and struck a tree.  Wirth was ejected from his vehicle and pronounced dead at the scene Friday night.  Sheriff Hartwig said today that speed is believed to be the contributing factor. The driver was not wearing a seatbelt. Assisting the Manitowoc County Sheriff’s Department were Kiel Police, Kiel Fire & Ambulance personnel along with the County Coroner’s Office.
