Fishing season in Wisconsin begins on May 4th this year, but “phishing” season lasts year-round. The Better Business Bureau Serving Wisconsin reminds consumers to be vigilant of imposters impersonating trustworthy businesses “phishing” for your personal or financial information. “Unlike hook and line fishing, you can’t throw the phishing scam back in the pretend pond,” says Jim Temmer, CEO/president of the Better Business Bureau Serving Wisconsin. “If you fall for a fake email, phone or text message from someone posing as a legitimate business, you could lose a lot more than you bargained for.” To date, more than 22,670 phishing scams have been reported to BBB Scam Tracker.
