The Two Rivers School District took advantage of the students having the day off on Monday to hold a board meeting. We spoke with Superintendent Lisa Quistorff, who told us that there were several new board members that needed to take the oath of office. The Board then nominated Jaimie Salta as president for the second consecutive year.
The board also approved a new music teacher contract at L.B. Clarke Middle school. “Probably about 12 years ago, L.B. Clarke did have its own music teacher,” Quistorff explained. “But due to budget cuts, it was one of the positions that was cut. What we did was we realigned how music was going to be served.”
Lisa also told us that the board approved the issuance of a Chromebook to each of the students in grades 5 through 12. The computers would help students share projects by using Google Docs. The teachers are currently using the Chromebooks, so students could have easier access to their teachers as well.
