April is Donate Life Month, which emphasizes the importance of donating organs. There are a lot of people who are living healthy happy lives thanks to the selfless donations from others. One of those people is Ron Hinz, who told SeehaferNews.com that just about anyone can sign up to be a donor. “There are certain things of course,” Hinz explained. “You have to be relatively healthy…What I tell everyone is to go ahead and sign up and let the professionals decide.”
Most people associate signing up to be a donor with organ donation but Hinz explains that there is more to it than that. He told us that skin and tissue donations are very important too for people that are suffering from burn injuries and other afflictions like that.
If you wish to donate, you can do it one of a couple of ways. Hinz explained that if you don’t know the person you can get yourself put onto a donor list by contacting your doctor or as Ron said, “…you can contact one of the transplant centers, those would be St. Lukes, Froedert or UW.” The other option is if you know the person you want to donate to, you can talk to their doctor to see if you are a match.
