Six individuals of varied backgrounds and fields of expertise were honored for their various accomplishments at last night’s 43rd Lakeshore All Sports Hall of Fame Enshrinement Banquet at the Manitowoc Holiday Inn. Terri Risch was recognized for her nearly 30 years of contributions to the Mishicot School District as an athlete, coach and current Athletic Director.
Known by his friends and players as “Q” Mike Quistorff coached and taught the game of basketball to many girls and young women for 38 years and just completed his first year as Head Coach of the Silver Lake Lady Lakers. He says he’s learned two valuable lessons from his players.
Bob Leavy is enshrined for his lifelong success in bowling.
Leavy is also enshrined in the Manitowoc and Green Bay Bowling Halls of Fame. John Schultz excelled in football-basketball-baseball and golf at Mishicot then moved on to coach at Reedsville where he started a golf team. Schultz also officiated and tried out for the Houston Astros in 1965.
Jacques Verbauwhede is recognized for his years of playing-coaching and teaching tennis-the last 25 years at Manitowoc Lincoln High School.
Tom Aiello was Sports Editor of the then Manitowoc-Two Rivers Herald Times Reporte from 1978 to 1999 and is also being enshrined for his many contributions to the Hall Of Fame. He shares a story about how his coming to Manitowoc was a bit of “divine intervention”.
Lance Allan was last night’s Featured Speaker. He says the 231 members of the Lakeshore All Sports Hall of Fame is the epitome of what sports is all about.
