President Trump will hold a rally tomorrow night at the Resch Center in Ashwaubenon. Don Zimmer, Chairman of the Manitowoc County Republican Party had this to say about the visit to Green Bay, “We’re very excited about it. We realize how critical Wisconsin was to his win in 2016, so he wants to make sure that he wins the state again in 2020. You will probably see him several more times throughout the state as the months go by, more times than he was here during the 2016 campaign.”
Donald Trump won Wisconsin three years ago which was key to capturing the Presidency. Many Political pundits feel the Badger state will be in play again this election cycle. Kerry Trask of the Executive Committee of Manitowoc County’s Democratic Party shared his thoughts on President Trump’s visit, “I think he’s in real trouble in Wisconsin. His approval ratings have gone way down since the Mueller report came out and I think that he’s going to be doing a lot of these kinds of rallies. He can’t do them in Dane County or Milwaukee, so Green Bay is probably a good place for him to gather the faithful.”
The Mueller report-which concluded there was “no collusion” between the Trump campaign and Russia to influence the outcome of the 2016 election-continues to make headlines. Zimmer says to expect the President to address it tomorrow night, “He is not going to sit still and stand for the political games that have been played by the Democrats during this whole Russia hoax. He will talk to us about that and explain why he is not going to participate in any more of their sham investigations. The evidence is in the fact that he won’t turn over any more documents. He’s had enough of that and that will be a main topic of his discussion.”
Trask and Democrats would love to have President Trump explain why Mueller didn’t “fully exonerate” him, but don’t expect it. Trask said, “He’ll gather his base people around and he’ll kind of huff and puff with his trash talk and the fact is that people want to hear statements of substance. They really want to get away from the personal stuff. Trump talks about himself all the time, we want some leaders that talk about us.”
Ten thousand people are expected to attend. Doors open at 4 p.m. with the President scheduled to speak at 7.
