Family Displaced, Feline Dies in Appleton House Fire

A family has been displaced as the result of a fire in the 500 block of North Bateman Street in Appleton last night. The fire was reported to the Appleton Fire Department just before 9:00 PM, and the caller said the blaze was in the kitchen. The fire was quickly extinguished, but significant damage had been done to the room, and the smoke and heat caused damage to other parts of the home. Two cats were found inside the home, and both were given oxygen and transported to a local vet clinic. One of the family pets did not survive. The cause of the fire remains under investigation, with no damage estimate at this time.
