A swarm of police cars responded to a call across the street from the McDonalds on Calumet Avenue in Manitowoc yesterday. A citizen report indicated that the squad cars were on the scene at around 12:45. We spoke with LT. Mark Schroeder of the Manitowoc Police Department, who described the incident as a drug deal gone bad. One of the three people involved was taken into custody, but there haven’t been any additional details released at this time. Rumor had circulated that shots were fired, but LT. Schroeder squashed those rumors. An affidavit will be put together sometime this morning, with more details.
