Many commuters headed to downtown Milwaukee will have to find a different route for the next few months while the Kilbourne Avenue Tunnels are fixed. The north tunnel will be closed to traffic until June and the south tunnel will be shut down from then until October. Milwaukee Public Works officials say it is necessary to fully close the tunnels to keep workers safe while they complete all the repairs needed. A portion of the ceiling in the south tunnel will be replaced and leaking expansion joints in both tunnels will be repaired.
