The Green Bay Police Department has released more information surrounding the stabbing of K9 Pyro over the weekend. Police Chief Andrew Smith explained during a news conference, that Sia Vang called 911 on Sunday, claiming to have a weapon, and that he would kill his father, and any police officer that came near his home. Officers then surrounded the home on the 1300 block of Western Avenue, and brought a Bearcat armored vehicle with them. Officers ordered Vang exit the home, but he refused, so officers deployed K9 Pyro. The K9 officer bit Vang, who pulled out a knife and stabbed him three times in his neck area. Pyro continued to stay latched on Vang until officers were able to Taser Vang. Chief Smith said in no uncertain terms that Pyro likely prevented any shot from being fired, saving lives in the process. Pyro underwent two surgeries and is currently in recovery.
