The University of Wisconsin Board of Regents is giving the green light to a 23-percent salary increase for the U-W System president. Board members unanimously approved the pay hike for the position at Friday’s meeting. Spokesman Mark Pitsch says U-W President Cross declined pay raises since being hired in 2014 and will continue to do so. The current minimum salary for the position is 399-thousand dollars and the maximum is 598-thousand-500. Today’s vote will bring the starting salary to 489-thousand and the max to 734-thousand dollars. Cross earned 525-thousand this year and was the ninth-highest paid employee in the U-W System. Regents approved three-percent annual raises for all U-W employees over the next two years.
