Shamrocks for Shelter, in its second year, raised more than $15,000 for Manitowoc County’s men’s homeless shelter The Haven March 16 at Knox’s Silver Valley Bar and Banquet Hall. The event drew 26 bean bag teams and had172 people participate in a silent auction, bucket raffles, and booze and wine wagons. Silver Valley won first place in the bean bag tournament, with second place going to Bobby’s Bagger’s (Glen’s Bar) and third place going to The Corn-Stars. Costume contest winner was the Lucky Ladies bean bag team. Officer manager and volunteer coordinator for The Haven Jenine Soucoup stated that “The Shamrocks For Shelter Committee would like to thank all of our volunteers that worked tirelessly obtaining the donations, putting out posters, serving food, running the tournament, selling tickets and anything else that was asked of them.”
