
Local and area High School Boys Baseball and Girls Fastpitch Softball teams were able to get 3 games in yesterday afternoon. The Valders baseball squad needed just 5-innings to defeat Reedsville, 13-2. Matt Meyers was the winning pitcher with Carson Schenian taking the loss. Trevor Leist & Luke Wendling both went 2-3 for the Vikings, including a double, and combined to drive in 5-runs.
.In Girls Fastpitch, Manitowoc Lutheran began its’ season with a non-conference road victory over Winnebago Lutheran Academy in Fond du lac. The Lancers outlast the Vikings 11-6 in 8 innings. Winning pitcher Lexi LeClair went the distance, allowing 7-hits, 3-earned runs with 6 walks and 9-strikeouts. Mikayla Riemer led the offensive attack going 3-5 with a double, 2-runs scored and a stolen base.
At Reedsville last night the Panthers were defeated by Valders 9-1. The Vikings broke itopen with a 7-run third in their season opener. Jenna Evenson pitched a complete game 3-hitter with 4-strikeouts and 2-walks. Offensively, Kendra Hammel, Lindsay Glaeser and Hannah Evenson all had 2-hits, while Lindsey Brunmeier went 1-2 with 2-RBI’s and a run scored. Ashley Vogel took the loss and deserved a better fate after allowing just 1-earned run in 7-frames. Elizabeth Bubolz was 2-for-3 including a double.
