Pine River Dairy, on English Lake Road southwest of Manitowoc, was a recent multiple award winner at the U.S. Cheese Championships at Lambeau Field in Green Bay. Shari Riesterer, Vice-President of Pine River Dairy told SeehaferNews.com that they “won in the flavored butter category. We got best in class for our sea-salt caramel butter, and we also got second runner up… for our lemon dill butter.” Riesterer said that it is a great honor, and praised the team saying, “We have a great crew that’s developing the flavors of the butters that seem to be popular.” She also thanked their suppliers, remarking “Through the butter making process, we’re buying cream from cheese factories…that are getting their milk from the dairy farmers in the local area.” Shari says they’ll receive their ribbons and plaques during the Wisconsin Cheesemakers’ Association banquet and awards night at the Alliant Energy Center in Madison, in mid-April. As announced earlier, Pine River Pre-Pack of Newton, a separate entity, also won several awards at the Cheese championships.
