Citizens Help Manitowoc Police Arrest a Man for Stealing Packages off of Porches

Two alert citizens helped police arrest a 57-year-old Manitowoc man for stealing packages off of porches. A witness told officers that she had witnessed the man walking around the Lake Breeze Apartments in a suspicious manner at around 3:00 PM yesterday (Thursday) afternoon. She did not recognize the man as a resident of the complex and became concerned as the suspect continued to look around as if to see if anyone was watching him. She contacted the complex manager, and while informing him of the man, watched the suspect take a large box from outside one of the units. The woman then began to chase down the suspect, who had taken another box from a separate unit as he fled. The suspect dropped the larger box, and attempted to escape in his vehicle, but was blocked by the manager’s pickup truck. Officers arrived and placed the man under arrest on two counts of Theft.
